Big changes are coming for World of Warcraft. With the Lich King expansion coming in bit over a month, everything is changing once again. But wait, even before the expansion arrives on November 13th, there are changes in the menu. Patch 3.0.2 - Echoes of Doom - is scheduled to arrive next week, bringing many of the expansion features early. Azeroth will never be the same again.

The upcoming Wrath of the Lich King expansion is set to improve the visuals of World of Warcraft with the addition of proper dynamic shadows. We take a close look at the new technology, compare the visual improvements and run some benchmarks to see what you need to have under the hood to max out the new visuals.

The discussion on the validity of synthetic benchmarks over game benchmarks to determine video card performance is as old as the first synthetic benchmark, and you have probably heard it all before. Still, we took a stab at the issue. How exactly 3DMark Vantage does against a large set of "real world benchmarks" when trying to determine the performance of the latest hardware offerings from ATI and NVIDIA?
