Rockstar is infamous for the amount of negative media attention their games attract ranging from playground squabbles in Bully to gratuitous hidden sex scenes in Grand Theft Auto. Amongst these titles resides Manhunt 2; a game originally brandished with an Adult's Only rating that seemed as if it would never see the light of day, but after some censoring this gruesome adventure has made its way to the Wii. While it certainly is far from perfect, gamers should be excited to have the opportunity to try this one out.

Don’t try this at home

The story in Manhunt 2 revolves around Dr. Daniel Lamb. You're pretty much left in the dark at the beginning, but as the game progresses information about his past relationships, secret medical experiments, and his current state of sanity is revealed. From the get go, all you know is that an electrical malfunction at an insane asylum has allowed all the prisoners to escape from their cells, and you can bet anything that violence is sure to ensure.

Specifically on the Wii, the motion controls undoubtedly leave a lot of creativity up to the developers. In this case, you feel like you're actually performing dastardly deeds instead of just mimicking motions. For instance, if you sneak up behind a hunter with a hammer and perform a stealth execution, you need to bludgeon your target several times before smashing his face in. This is done by following a series of on-screen cues, but once you get familiar with how each kill is performed you probably won't have to even look at the directions.

Stealth kills are performed by sneaking behind an oblivious enemy while holding the A button and then waiting for the right time to strike. Just like before, there are three levels of kills going from hasty to violent and finally gruesome. While hasty kills aren't nearly as gory, sometimes you need to act fast before your cover is blown. Furthermore, a hasty kill might simply have you bash in a hunter's brain with a hammer quickly, while the gruesome alternative leaves a much greater mess to clean up.

New to Manhunt 2 are gun executions and environmental executions. Typically guns are used for range combat when your cover has already been blown, but if you manage to sneak up behind somebody with a firearm in hand be ready for a treat. If you perform a gun execution with the shotgun, for instance, your character will tap the target on the shoulder, and the instant he turns around he will have his head blown right off.
