Safari 4.0 out of beta, now even faster
Posted 06-09-2009 at 02:01 PM by benchmarker
Safari 4.0 moved out of beta yesterday and even though the version number remains the same 4.0, the new proper version (build 530.17) appears to be consistently faster in Peacekeeper than the beta versions (build 528.x).
We ran some tests with three separate systems and saw score increases ranging from 5% to 12%.
Examining the suite scores shows that the new version of Safari is most improved in the Data and Text parsing suites.
Currently Peacekeeper categorizes all different builds of Safari 4.0 as the same version, but given this improvement in scores, we will adjust the identification to also take the build into account for easier comparisons.
