Upon arrival the HDD stopped... I recently made a trip and carried my SATA HDD in the luggage. Upon arrival the HDD stopped working. Its making short grinding noises and does not get detected in BIOS.

There is a very good chance that the HDD is dead.... but is there anyway I can salvage my data or better make it work again?

(I will be giving it in for repairs but wanted to know whether there are any home remedies that i should be trying first.)
