Default Re: does 3dmark06 support this hardware?
here's the error message i am getting when attempting to install 3dmark:

Feature transfer error
Feature: Main
Component:
File:
Error: Catastrophic failure

there is only an Ok button on this window, and when i click on it the installation closes.

i downloaded a new copy of the 3dmark installer package as well, and got a couple other odd errors trying to install before this one popped up again- i figured i'd start with this one first.

That is an installshield error, not related to actual 3DMark code.

If you have ruled out a corrupt installer, then...

1. You sure you have admin rights on the system? The installation cannot complete without full administrator rights. On XP that means you have to use admin account. On Vista/Win7 you should get an elevation prompt requesting access.

2. You sure you haven't changed permissions on any system folders or documents folder? This error could happen if the installer has no rights to write to the required folders (program files and then some stuff under Documents and Settings\<useraccountname>\Local Settings\Application Data\Futuremark or in Vista/Win7, Users\<useraccountname>\AppData\Local\Futuremark\ on your Windows drive - these paths are from memory so pardon me if they are not exact, but the point is - you need write access to your whole user account folder, which by default you should have)

3. In some cases this installshield error has been circumvented by doing the installation in safe mode. This is not a full solution - it shouldn't error out if everything is fine with your system, but... could be worth a shot.

In any case, the most likely cause is that your windows is somehow not working correctly.
