Re: so what are your thoughts?
I got stabbed once today, so I put all my focus into stabbing that guy back, and eventually got him. Those were the only two stabs I seen all day :/
The game takes a bit of getting used to. Knowing when to land and when to move is very useful, you need to have a high level of situational awareness. My first couple games I just flew around shooting at everything I seen, and getting killed by everything that I couldn't see. So I started playing around with landing on platforms and asteroids near busy areas, and would jump between a few of them to prevent people from hunt me down. I went from going about 5/14+ per round to getting in the high 20s for kills almost instantly.
I still need to master the art of orientating myself correctly though, trying to right click and strafe or move at the same time gets confusing. I had a tough time navigating around the arc level

Re: so what are your thoughts?
Overall thought: Very very good online shooter. Just needs polish.
Good:
Controls are good when you adapt.
Runs smoothly
Fun and addicting.
Feel floaty but not too floaty.
Great visuals
Bad:
Server filters? I saw none?
Hit boxes seem to need adjusting, imo anyways.
Sniper recoil is retarded. Idk how anyone thinks it is acceptable.
Making out other players against the environments is quite straining on the eyes. (mine anyways)
Great work FGS. I am truly happy. I'd have paid a full retail price for such quality.

Re: so what are your thoughts?
Loving the game so far, played for an hour and a bit so far. There are a couple of things I would like to say though:
1) The grenade switching as it is at the moment can be a bit annoying. Now, it might get less annoying after more playtime (so I actually know the order perfectly) but I thought a better system would have been to give each grenade a button of their own, e.g. 1-3. This makes more sense to me and allows for quicker grenade switching. Thoughts?
2) Are the stats actually recording on Australian servers? I played 1 match on a fairly empty American server first to get used to the controls and that recorded my stats fine. I then switched to an Australian server (Aus FM #1) and played for over an hour. When I load up my stats at http://stats.shatteredhorizon.com/st...playerId=16981 it only shows the stats for the American server. What is going on? Do the stats not update after each round but in one big go at a predetermined time or something?

Re: so what are your thoughts?
The recoil is there because in the older builds sniper was just like any other FPS sniper and was way overpowered and games became camping festivals so it was nerfed.
It isn't retarted once you learn to use it. Some of the other beta testers are insanely accurate with it and can even kill fast moving targets easily.

Re: so what are your thoughts?
Of all the games released this year that have failed this game is NOT one of em .
Great game lots of aaction , impress with the fresh approach to a FPS instead of yet another copy of war game ..
Great first game guys the support is great and the updates I am getting via email on the status of server files is out of this world ...just like the game

QFT.
My suit and helmet has holes to prove this. Many holes.

Ah, but that would make it easier. SH requirements should probably include "Playskill required".
Give it a while, you'll learn to predict the fuse pretty well soon enough and then you have an advantage over the low-skill nubs.

progressive learning is competitive success. however, indirect advantages are dangerous; indeed, low-skill nubs -will- suffer.
if your goal is to please the hardcore, great. i'm one of 'em. if not, well ...
... the 'either-or fallacy' has doomed many.

Melee is very latency-dependant and I think it is bit clumsy on purpose. You are wearing a spacesuit after all and if it could be "spammable" like say melee in L4D, it would be overpowered.
In beta we had many people who mastered the art of stab - to a degree that I was always getting pointy things inserted to my backside. It is not intended to be a "spam when someone is somewhere near you", but more like a tool to use when you sneak up on them.

re: melee's cooldown and practical use, agreed. it feels right and your point is valid. the animation is weak, though.

Re: so what are your thoughts?
After the first hour ... AWESOME
Everything I dreamed it would be! When I first heard of the 'audio simulation files' thing, I thought what a cop out! Then when I started playing and found I could turn the suit off.. I was in heaven. I spent 90% of each round floating about with the suit off, popping people as they floated past totally unaware... perfect!
First thing that happened when I started playing: I got shot in the tank, and kablam. I've never been so happy to die!
The potential for expanded gameplay modes and mods in this game is absolutely huge.... I can see this lasting a long time and growing into something epic, if it can just survive these opening few weeks.

I think it kind of is since you can get the same result just by long range shooting unscoped with the rifle. I'm finding far and few reasons to use it at all.

Re: so what are your thoughts?
I picked this game up instantly. About the only thing it took me to pick up on was the controls. Now that I've finally found out how to silent run, I've racked up quite a few bayonet kills! Even one surprise tank kill with one!
It's very fun and original- a totally new experience. I love it.
