3DMark Vantage and 3DMark06 - System Info Fails
When I try to run 3DMark Vantage or 3DMark06 I get an error "System Info scan failed. Can't run benchmark." It tells me to check the FAQ when running if from 3DMark Vantage, which I did check. I am running Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate on an Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme X7900 and have nvidia 8800M GTX SLI. Any ideas? Yes I tried the Direcpll.dll as well. I could only find it in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Futuremark\MSC.

You have this update installed, right?

Alternatively, can you run VirtualMark or Game-o-Meter on that system?

Okay, something odd...
Do you happen to have a blu-ray drive? I've heard of odd cases where disabling/disconnecting one helps.
Also sometimes SystemInfo can hang if you have a copy-protected DVD in your drive, or when specific models of USB memory sticks are connected. Could try removing any USB memory devices and discs from optical drives.
Also a full DXDIAG of your system could be useful for tracking this down.

Now after testing a little more I see it is a on again off again kind of application. I can get it to run with no rhyme or reason. I created a ProcessMonitor file if you want to see the process errors and successes. I have tried the USB of course. I do have a Blue-Ray drive for this Dell M1730 laptop. I took the disk out and it made no change in the behavior. Any other ideas? Could it be the Beta nvidia display drivers causing it to fail most of the time but have a success in running every once in a while? This is indeed odd.
Thanks

Dell M1730 maxed out.

I also ran DXDIAG 32 and 64 bit... no problems found.

Re: 3DMark Vantage and 3DMark06 - System Info Fails
Someone solved a similar issue with PCMark by updating the BIOS of their motherboard. Could that be a possible culprit?
Edit: Noticed yours was a laptop... well, they do have BIOSes as well. Any updates on Dell's site?

Re: 3DMark Vantage and 3DMark06 - System Info Fails
I have the same problem... All my 3dmark benchies fail... Vantage to 2005. However, games work fine. Prime95 stable. Ram Memory test built in W7.. all check out fine.. Removed the GTX280 with a 9600GT, same problem..
MY system is a Core i7 860, 4gig RAM, GTX280, GA-P55-UD5 mobo
Do you have a Core i7?? Wonder if thats the problem...
I started a new thread,However, since you're getting responses thought I chime in too...to get some answers...
