Default Hard Sci-Fi modding
The devs have mentioned that they're not planning on doing mod support soon, unless the community clamours for it. Consider this my +1 clamour.

What I'd really like to see is an option or mod for a real hard-sci-fi mode. Something as simple as a server enforcing power-down mode would be most of the way there. Limited power, suit leaks, manual scanning for energy traces, that sort of thing.

It might not actually be fun per se but it would certainly scratch an itch that has long existed in the sci-fi community.

Mod support so this can happen, or a gamemode made by the devs would make this old-school nerd a very happy (starship) trooper.

+1 here to, community modding is one of the hallmarks of pc gaming, I find it hard to believe that futuremark isnt considering this after making so much noise about this being a PC only title.

also I want an enders game battle room map!

That's definitely doable at some point, server options are "pretty easy" (I'm sure Miikka and his buddies disagree though ).

Modding the game fully or making level from scratch is another thing, and much harder - we don't have at this point "unified simple to use single editor that does it all", so it's hard for anyone outside the company to set up working dev environment. You'd need XSI for starters.

But you never know, and we do fully understand the value of modding community (some of us came from those).

Yeah, my first thought (after I pieced my brain back together from the initial explosion) was "this game needs a hardcore, power-down mode".

Would be epicalness.

100% agreement here! I was hoping we'd see server options like 'audio simulation off', 'no recoil compensation' etc... perhaps even a mode where the only form of movement you have is jumping off objects, so if you jump the wrong way, you're finished!

Opening the door for hard sci-fi modding is the obvious next step for this game - I've been dying to play something like this for as long as I can remember, and now it's here, and it's so close to perfect, I want more than ever to see the tech/physics/realism pushed to the limit.

One thing I'd really enjoy is more mod options to the suit; i.e. player can control the state of recoil compensation, radio, thrust, targeting, and other systems, in turn affecting their visibility (stealth), endurance (limited fuel/instantaneous power from suit), and damage.

Let's face it, fun is a very relative concept! Most of the game time I've played so far I've had my suit switched off, and i've never had so much fun!!

*rawr* Well my name is already known but consider me as additional +1 clamour before I become mentally unstable and start making new forum accounts on every libary computer and demands mapper. Anyways, atleast after having a talk with my friend who is especially intrested in realistic scifi games he was saying that Shattered Horizon is just like any other shooter game, with one unique candy. I'm really obsessed to make him get this game. He is currently fixated on playing Star Quest. Perhaps from people having clamour this way and adding mod/map ideas that could be made there might come up something that would add some more nice candies to Shattered Horizon which will revolutionarise the gaming industry once again with FPS games. Shattered Horizon with zero-g is doing pretty much the same that Crysis did with it's graphics. It's one big giantic leap to the future. But my friend is still missing it something that makes Star Quest more favorable game for him.

IMHO wait and see what options we have with dedicated servers.

With a super-active dev team like we have here it might be possible that we get popular requested features in the game without having to wait for a mod.

I agree modding is great and will open up a lot of possibilities - but the first priority for FM must be building a community. That will be done by supporting the game, fixing bugs, putting in requested features.

A no HUD mode sounds like something that could be coded into dedicated server options without too much hassle...(I also like the idea, but not the leaky suits bit ^ :\

There is already a strong community that is getting stronger a day. At next the Dev day we might be strong enough to kill all devs in the world and rule the world (afcourse leaving the Futuremark devs alive.)

And you know The Arc map was completly made by the feedback of the community at beta. Anyways the dedicated servers are something that we are all waiting and I'm also personally yearning for a "reality-mode" where atleast the sound simulation is gone. It might be fun, you never know before you try it.
