Its the age old issue of game review scoring... some only use 60-100 (or 6-10) of the scale, some use full scale, some use 1-5 stars... WTB Grand Unified ISO standard...

Thanks for the explanation Hakso. 70% is often perceived as an average score.

The gameplay is original, if somewhat samey and if the zero-g combat pushes your buttons then you will get your money's worth of hours out of it. Overall though, we felt that this well implemented aspect of the game wasnt strong enough to carry the weight or its shortcomings. Futuremark deserves kudos for coming up with an original and focused game but we'd want to see a good measure of downloadable content added to Shattered Horizon for it to turn into a fully fledged FPS of awesomeness.

Shattered Horizon manages to expand the first person shooter genre by literally another dimension. Sadly enough it is very well possible that this title might be relegated to a niche existence because of its originality.

Shattered Horizon is an original product that proves to be very different from the majority of the more traditional multiplayer shooters on the market, but beyond its fascinating concept, it’s impossible to ignore its lack of content that currently narrows down the variety of the experience. Game Reflect:

As someone who has somewhat embarrassingly spent hundreds of hours in multiplayer shooters such as BF1942, CS:S, BF2 and CoD:4, Shattered Horizon is an incredibly refreshing game. Zero gravity multiplayer combat is surprisingly original and should hopefully provide hours of entertainment with definite potentially for competitive ladder play. My only worry at the moment is that there is not enough content to last, but all indicators point to Futuremark being very invested in the game and they’ve already announced there will be downloadable content that will be free to all users. The fact that the game is virtually (at least in the hours I spent with it) bug free means they should be able to focus more of their time on creating new content rather than bug fixing. I feel like there’s much left unsaid about the game-play (a stats system, achievements) but I guess half the fun is finding out for yourself. For only $20 and with the promise of more content to come, if you’re a fan of multiplayer shooters there really is no excuse not to get this game.
