Sennheiser MX 90 VC Review
I was in the market for a new pair of earbud style headphones, since my Sony ones packed up on me last week.
After a bit of reading up and checking out what was on offer in my local stores, I settled on the Sennheiser MX 90 VC’s, which I picked up yesterday.
Build quality of these things is outstanding – and they just look so darn sexy. They have an innovative holding system to keep them in your ears. The little circular pads above the main earpiece sit just behind the outer fold of your ear, which really wedges them in place. I think I might even be able to go running using these, without having them fall out.
The volume control (second photo) is a neat little sliding jobbie – again very stylish, and works well.
Sound reproduction? Well, I’m no expert, but they sound great to me. Bass is generally clear, and trebles are largely undistorted (as best as can be expected for small form-factor headphones). Sennheiser list the frequency response as 18-22,000 Hz.
The sound is noticeably better than my previous Sony earbud style headphones, although as always with headphones of this size, the bass is a little lacking.
The only other negative point I have is that I’m concerned the sliding volume control might be easily adjusted accidently, as it does not feature a lock. Having said that, its design makes it hard to accidently move it, so fingers crossed.
Overall I have to say I’m very impressed, well worth the money in my opinion.
