Default My Q9450 running at 75C during Prime.
I recently bought a Cooler Master Vortex 752 CPU cooler for my Q9450 because I was having trouble reinstallling my AC Freezer 7 Pro and didn't want to waste more time trying to reinstall it and probably end up breaking my motherboard. With the new cooler my Q9450 hit 75C during Prime. With the old one it hit 72C. These are temps were Coretemp's readings. Outdoor temps where I live have been around 95 to 97F these past few days. I'm using Arctic Ceramique thermal past and it was sticky when I applied it and I couldn't smudge it smoothly on my CPU and it had a rough texture to it like putty. Also the CPU power cable is blocking the CPU fan but not touching the blades but I can't find another way to position that cable and not block the CPU fan. Maybe it's because of that cable blocking airflow from the CPU fan? I hope I don't have to reinstall my heatsink because then I would have to remove my motherboard from the case because of the way this heatsink is installed. The 90-day warrantly is almost over on this OEM CPU and If I decide to RMA this CPU back to the store I'm worried that they will refuse to let me exchange it if I just say that it's overheating and they will probably say that I didn't install my heatsink properly or blame my cooling setup.

Default Re: My Q9450 running at 75C during Prime.
Well, a few days ago I exchanged my Q9450 at the retailer since it was still under the OEM warranty. Since they didn't have another OEM one so they let me exchange it for a retail version. This one runs about 9C cooler under load on the hottest core than my previous chip. Also it runs about 14C cooler during idle on the hottest core. However the sensor on Core 3 won't display lower than 46C in Core Temp.
