Grid PC questions/review**
Okay, I bought GRID a few months ago and have just gotten around to installing it yesterday. I read lot's of reviews and what pulled me to buy this game was that it was said to be a mix of sim and arcade racer. Not too much of either...just good balance. That sounded great to me.
So far I'm finding that the game is just plain hard. Here's what usually happens...even when I'm winning a race or leading by a comfortable margin, something trivial happens and I finish last. If I miss the edge of the road by just the slightest margin, the car spins out and ends up facing backwards against the wall. It takes a good 20 seconds to get back on the track and of course I'm in last. Even if it's early enough to make another run the car has enough damage now to make catching up impossible!
I usually pick bumper cam for driving games but that makes it even harder so I'm using whole car view.
I am missing something here? Is this just a tough game? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Re: Grid PC questions/review**
Well i am using a Logitech momo wheel with it , which makes the game a bit easier to play,
but it's still a hard game IMHO.....
What control(s) are you using ?
I almost broke my wheel with the drifting part
K my own fault... i was on a chair with wheels under it

Re: Grid PC questions/review**
Don't make trivial mistakes? Plus, if you make one, you can rewind the game and try again at an eariler point. Press ESC, choose Instant Replay, rewind to where you want to start, and press F12. It's done automatically if you total your car. You can also disable this among other things at the start of the race in exchange for more reputation and money to win. For grid i found the outside cam to work best, and inside to work good with the slower cars.

I'm using a logitech rumblepad2. I'd like to have a wheel, but just can't spend the money right now.
Cool about the rewind feature. How far can you rewind? I'll try it.

Re: Grid PC questions/review**
Pretty far, according to stats i';ve used it about 100 times, so it has saved me a lot of race restarts. I am also using rumblepad 2. One important thing, if you are using a pad, by defatul the controls are extemely sensitive and unplayable. Go into my documents/codemasters/grid/hardware settings folder, and open the hardware_settings_config.xml file with wordpad. Find the line "input device type" at the bottom, and change it from 'auto' to 'pad'. Without finding about this i was close to uninstalling the game, control was horrible.
DIRT however didn't have this line and the game is sitting on my PC unplayed.

Re: Grid PC questions/review**
the rewind is one of the key features of the game. if you set it on easy you get 5 rewinds per race, and you lose 1 for each difficulty setting harder you choose.
but year, i haven't been able to hook up my Momo race wheel because i don't have room right now, so i started playing this game with my Logitech gamepad, and it is suprisingly good! depending on which car you are driving it is fairly difficult.

Just searching gamepads and GRID on google i think. I installed the game and played one race and just knew it something wrong with the control. I move the stick a little bit and the car flew in the direction. Let me know if you see the difference.

Re: Grid PC questions/review**
Great game by the way, main gripe for me is the sometimes overly aggressive AI, I play on the 360, doubt it makes a huge difference gameplay wise...
Anyway, yeah as mentioned you really need to use flashback feature, it will soon become your best friend, especially in the later races.
