Assassin's Creed Patch In The Works

According to a news alert on the official Assassin's Creed website today, Ubisoft has already begun work on the first patch for the PC edition of their hit Action-Adventure title. The update will address the majority of issues reported by fans and remove DirectX 10.1 support in order to rework its implementation. A release date for the patch is still unknown, but they do promise "further updates soon." We'll keep you posted! ;)

Uh, why remove DirectX 10.1 support? The article over on Rage3D.com seemed to indicate that it worked just fine: a 20% performance boost and better anti-aliasing quality at the same time!

According to the source "The performance gains seen by players who are currently playing Assassin’s Creed with a DX10.1 graphics card are in large part due to the fact that our implementation removes a render pass during post-effect which is costly."
