Spilling the beans this afternoon, Monte Cristo has revealed some new details and a pricing model for the MMO portion of their upcoming city-builder, Cities XL. According to the official press release, the subscription-based "Planet" mode will allow you to build five persistent cities on different planets, visit other cities, trade resources, team up with other players to build Mega Structures, participate in online events and even manage your city via the web.

As for the subscription model, it comes in three packages: 7€ for 1 month of play, 15€ for 3 months and 27€ for 6 months. This includes all future content updates, including new buildings, maps, simulation and functionality upgrades. No word on North American pricing, but we'll be sure to keep you posted!

Cities XL is scheduled for release in Europe on September 3rd and North America sometime in Q3 2009.
