Ubisoft has released the first part of "Assassin's Creed Lineage" - a three-part series of short films produced to tie-in with the upcoming game, Assassin's Creed II. The series acts as a prequel to the upcoming stab-em-up and helps to set up the events prior to the storyline of the game. Make no mistake - this is not a trailer, it is a proper short film with a story. Also, while game movies are usually just a tad weak, this is definitely something different and quite impressive. Can't wait for the next episode in the series.

HD version is available on YouTube. Note that due to the liberal amounts of blood and violence, the film is rated "V+ - Strongly violent or disturbing" by YouTube and you have to login to view the larger version.

Assassin's Creed II is currently scheduled for late November 2009 for PS3 and Xbox 360 with the PC version following in Q1 2010 - and if the first Assassin's Creed is anything to go by, expect the PC version to be the definite one and well worth the wait.
