Conclusion

I'm not sure if this should be considered as a relaunch of franchise - but if it is, it is a successful one. I for one believe there is a market out there for adventure games, especially of this caliber. Consider that at the announcement of this title Lucasarts announced a remake of the original Secret of Monkey Island, and on the eve of the launch of Tales of Monkey Island Steam was populated with a whole selection of classical titles from Lucasarts, the future looks bright for an adventure game fan.

If there is something to gripe about it is lack of replay. An adventure game usually only has a single way to play it through, and in most situations you will experience everything there is in the game just to complete it. Tales of Monkey Island is no exception - while there may have been a few "use the wrong item in the wrong place to get a funny response" I missed, they are unlikely to make me play this through again, or at least not any time soon.

Tales of Monkey Island is a fine addition to the finest adventure game series ever, and I will be waiting for the next episode with as much anticipation as any game title this year. With an adventure game past performance is not a clear indication of the future, as the game mechanics alone mean, but the performance shown by the development team in this episode would have me sign up for even more episodes than the still-to-be launched four.

Gameplay	92	The best parts of old adventure games are still there, and the tiresome bits have been trimmed out. All in all, this is the best adventure game interface ever.
Graphics	86	The graphics fit the bill and the animations are just as funny as they should be.
Audio	93	Voice acting is superb, music is excellent and sound effects complete the picture, er, sound.
Technology	80	I love the simple interface to Telltales website and lack of cripple-DRM. Whacks on the wrist for the sluggish mouse pointer.

OVERALL

Here's to being able to be Guybrush Threepwood, Mighty Pirate™ once again.
