I'm not entirely sure where all the dungeon crawlers vanished... I guess all the advances in 3D graphics drove developers into dreaming of bigger things. Almost Human, a small Finnish indie team formed by a couple of ex-Futuremark and ex-Remedy developers seems to think that a modern dungeon crawler would be a fun game to play and I happen to agree with them. Those who are too young to remember Dungeon Master may be slightly confused, yet they should probably take notice - Legend of Grimrock is unlike any other recent game and sometimes old ideas really are worthy of resurrecting. Keeping us on our toes tonight, Valve Software has released a small patch for their critically-acclaimed MOBA, DOTA 2. This latest update features a handful of bug fixes, tweaks to the Elder Titan's abilities, UI enhancements and reduced memory usage. It's about time! :) Hot off the presses, Electronic Arts and Ghost Games have officially announced Need for Speed: Rivals, the next installment in their critically-acclaimed racing series. Slated for release on November 19th, the game is being built on the Frostbite 3 engine and will feature a new "AllDrive" system, which seamlessly integrates singleplayer and multiplayer into one mode. Here's a little snippet from the press release: "The Need for Speed franchise has been an industry leader bringing social competition to the forefront in games," said Marcus Nilsson, Executive Producer, Ghost Games. "For the first time, players will have the freedom to seamlessly go from single player to co-op to multiplayer. Company of Heroes 2 is scheduled for release on June 25th. Hot off the presses, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that their critically-acclaimed fighting game, Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition, will be making its way to PC on July 3rd via digital distribution and August 2nd at retail. Word is the game will include all the DLC and full achievement/leaderboard support. Here's a little snippet from the PR: Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition for PC features dynamic gameplay including Tag Team, Challenge Tower and a full feature length story mode. Players choose from an extensive lineup of the game's iconic war 1ac7 riors and challenge their friends in traditional 1 vs. 1 matches, or gamers can spectate battles and interact directly with Kombatants online during the King of the Hill mode. The game supports the Mortal Kombat Tournament Edition Fight Stick and delivers full controller capability. Players will also be able to access achievements and leaderboard stats.
