It is almost time for the first serious contender in the subscription-based MMO market in years - Star Wars: The Old Republic. But does it have what it takes to pry some people away from World of Warcraft or get new players into a subscription-based MMO? I took a stab at the game with the recent large scale stress test weekend and while a full review has to wait until I can say something about the endgame of SWTOR, here is a preview on what to expect from the game initially.
Wrapping things up tonight, Firefly Studios have released a small patch (v1.8.28566) for their hit strategy title, Stronghold 3. In addition to a truck-load of bug fixes and gameplay tweaks, this update features two new unit management abilities (patrols and barracks assembly points). Grabbing our attention tonight, SEGA has announced that their upcoming first person shooter, Aliens: Colonial Marines, has been delayed in order to deliver the best game possible. Here's the scoop: "While setting clear goals, deadlines and predictions is helpful, they are often subjective. We don't want to sacrifice the creative process just for the sake of following a blue print. We prefer to have the creative discovery shape that blue print because our goal is to make a great game, and we are prioritizing this goal over the previously targeted date.” Previously scheduled for release in Spring 2012, the game is now expected to hit stores this Fall.
